Ben Shelton is set to face top seed Alexander Zverev in the 2026 US Open men’s singles final at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.
The 23-year-old American reached his first Grand Slam final after defeating fellow American Frances Tiafoe 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 7-5. Shelton also stunned defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in a dramatic five-set quarterfinal.
Zverev booked his place in the final with a straight-set victory over Karen Khachanov, 6-3, 7-6(7), 7-6(6). The German is chasing his second Grand Slam title of 2026 after winning the French Open.
The final carries major historical significance. Shelton is trying to become the first American man to win a Grand Slam singles title since Andy Roddick at the 2003 US Open. He is also the first Black American man to reach the US Open men’s singles final since Arthur Ashe in 1972.
Zverev leads their head-to-head 5-0, but this will be their first meeting at a Grand Slam.
