Loleta Union Elementary students received a visit from Santa Claus on Friday morning.
The jolly fellow, also known as 1st District Supervisor Rex Bohn, delivered gifts to students after arriving on a Loleta Volunteer Fire Department sleigh.
“For approximately twelve years, Loleta Elementary School has welcomed Santa to campus as part of a holiday tradition rooted in local generosity and care for children,” said Brenda Juarez, the Loleta Union Elementary School District community school coordiantor, in an email to the Times-Standard. “… Over time, Supervisor Rex Bohn recognized that this effort aligned perfectly with the mission of Toys for Tots, which led to a lasting partnership. Today, this tradition is supported by Supervisor Bohn, the Loleta Volunteer Fire Department, Toys for Tots, and local volunteers and school staff who help with gift wrapping each year.”
Gifts were delivered to the students of the school — and some younger siblings who are not yet school age, said Juarez.
“This year, the Wiyot Tribe also generously contributed gifts to support the event,” she said. “That support helped extend holiday giving to Loleta families, including younger siblings who may not yet be school-aged. We know the holidays are not always easy for every family, and it’s our hope that the collective generosity behind this event helps bring some joy, relief, and care to our community during this season.”
